We have done all the work and research to make strength training accessible and safe, irrespective of whether you have an injury or experience. Our mission is to restore the strength and confidence you need to keep doing the things you love. Our S.M.A.R.T. strength training program is designed to reduce your pain, help you to build strength for the long term and prevent recurrence of your pain or injury.

The S.M.A.R.T. Method

S.M.A.R.T. stands for STRENGTH, MOVEMENT, ALL-BODY, RESISTANCE TRAINING. The S.M.A.R.T. Method is designed to strengthening your body to help promote an active, pain-free and healthy life. It has been developed combining world class health science and exercise science grounded in decades of clinical results.

The S.M.A.R.T. METHOD Difference

  • At Activate Body, all of our strength training programs are designed to be completed in only two sessions per week with High-Intensity Training (HIT).

  • Activate Body place great value in ensuring that you complete your strength training program with proper technique, because this is the only way to ensure you achieve your goals. You will be professionally supervised in each session by our Physiotherapists or expert coaches during your training sessions. Your instructor will show you how to adjust the equipment and perform the exercises correctly so that you are confident with your strength and rehabilitation training.

    To ensure you see training results, you will then be supervised every session to adapt the weights and equipment and to ensure that you are training effectively at the right intensity. Of course, our Team are always there for you to help.

  • Activate Body clients cam begin their journey with an initial consultation with one of our Physiotherapists, who will prepare a comprehensive treatment plan to reduce any aches and pains and start the process of reconditioning. If there are any physical complaints, these will be accounted for in your individual training plan, allowing you to train safely and precisely in accordance with your needs.

  • Our back strength testing provides an clinical analysis of your current condition. The strength of the spinal erectors and the mobility of the spine are assessed by a Physiotherapist. This test provides a basis to prepare your treatment plan and manage your effective back training.

    The benefits of strength training on with our SMART method compared to our other strength training for the back are derived from the ability to isolate the muscles that are weak, the gauged resistance, the safe movement guidance and the way the motion of the exercise protects the joints under the guidance of a Physiotherapist.

  • Strength training for back pain

    At Activate Body, we strive to deliver outcomes for our clients suffering from back pain through our physiotherapist-led spinal program and targeted back strength training. We believe that targeted strength training is one of the most effective methods in the prevention and treatment of back pain.

    We can test the mobility of your back and the strength of your deep spinal muscles. These muscles are a crucial element to the health of your back.

    All of our programs are designed to increase your strength, sports performance and well-being - in all situations. Your custom strength training program will be designed based on a comprehensive evaluation by your physiotherapist and an analysis of your current training level, needs and goals.

  • A majority of adults over 40 are not meeting the Australian physical activity guidelines. The WHO identifies physical inactivity as a major risk factor in global mortality, leading to 3.2 million deaths globally. There is a direct link between physical inactivity and low cardiovascular fitness, and the presence of chronic health conditions.

    Activate Body is a unique physiotherapy and exercise facility. We aim to shift the paradigm of traditional gym training by minimising exercise barriers for clients of all ages, providing clients with a safe and supportive environment in which to improve their strength and physical function.

  • Strength training is an efficient and effective way to lose weight. During calorie restrictive dieting, the body has to draw on its own resources and you lose both fat and muscle. If strength training is complemented with healthy eating, muscle is retained and fat is lost more quickly. Our weight loss programs are designed for all clients to lose weight in a healthy and efficient manner.

  • A strong pelvic floor stabilises the internal organs of the abdominal cavity, makes the body feel stronger and improves posture. It is essentially the power centre of the body. Unfortunately, we tend only to become aware of it when its fundamental tightness declines and it is no longer able to do its job properly. With pelvic floor training at Activate Body you can specifically strengthen this group of muscles within the body.

*Notes Clients participating in group and home based training will be required to receive at least 2 one on one coaching sessions to cover the fundamental exercise movements.
