  • At Activate Body we strive to deliver outcomes for our clients suffering from back pain through the use of hands on physiotherapy and unique targeted strength training. We believe that targeted strength training is one of the most effective methods in the prevention and treatment of back pain.

With the help of our physiotherapists we can test the mobility of your back and the strength of the deep spinal muscles in your lower back. These muscles are a crucial element to the health of your back.

The benefits of the Spinal Program at Activate Body for back pain:

    • Supervised by an experienced Activate Body physiotherapist.

    • Targeted toward the muscles that are the primary and secondary causes of lower back pain.

    • Completed slowly and safely on specific back SMART strengthening program.

  • Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density – which weakens bones and increases the risk of fracture. Treatment for osteoporosis often requires the prescription of load bearing exercise. This may mean exercise such as walking or running but these exercises carry with them a risk of injury due to impact and repetition.

Strength training is beneficial for osteoporosis as it applies a controlled force to the bones. In response, the bone will lay down new bone to increase density. Our team of physiotherapists and expert coaches can review your bone density scans and build a customised strength training program to improve your bone health using the clinically proven S.M.A.R.T. programs.

Strength training at Activate Body is beneficial for clients with osteoporosis as it:

    • Is supervised by a Physiotherapist or Exercise Professional.

    • Is low impact & completed with slow controlled movements.

    • Can slow the rate of bone loss or even increase bone density.

    • Can address bone loss in specific areas – ie knee, lower back or hip

  • The aim of Activate Body's pre-surgery and post-surgical programs are to help our clients improve post-surgical outcomes where prevention is not possible. In particular, prehabilitation programs can be a successful pre-surgical intervention option both to reduce post-surgical inpatient stays, helps improve post-surgical outcomes and improve recovery times.

Activate Body specialises in prehabilitation and rehabilitation programs for a number of surgical procedures:

    • Back and neck, Including discectomy, laminectomy and spinal/cervical fusion.

    • Knee, Including total knee replacement, partial knee replacement and arthroscopy.

    • Hip, including total hip replacement, arthroscopy and resection arthroplasty.

    • Shoulder, including rotator cuff surgery, shoulder replacement, biceps resection and arthroscopy.

  • Strength training programs at Activate Body can help clients with arthritis by reducing joint pain and increasing strength and mobility. Research shows exercise therapy can successfully reduce arthritis pain and produce functional outcomes for clients with osteoarthritis.

"74% of patients initially deemed appropriate for joint replacement did not proceed to knee arthroplasty in the 12-months following a 12-week rehabilitation program." (Skou et al, 2015)

"Prehabilitation programs have been found to reduce pain, improve function and lead to better post-surgical outcomes." (Desmeules et al, 2013; Roo et al, 2006)

    • Reduce arthritis pain and improve functional outcomes for clients with arthritis

    • Delay or avoid joint replacement surgery or help improve post-surgical outcomes where prevention is not possible.

    • Maximise function in hip/knee to improve joint mobility during physical activity.

    • Increase overall strength to improve mobility and quality of life.

  • Preventing sport injuries is increasingly important for individuals and teams alike. At Activate Body, we can isolate and specifically test and compare the strength of the muscles that are important in your sport. With this information our physiotherapists can design an exercise program to address any weaknesses and strengthen the muscles to help prevent sports injuries.

Treating sporting injuries requires five important elements:

    1. Early intervention.

    2. Thorough assessment and diagnosis.

    3. Contemporary physiotherapy: Massage, mobilisation, dry needling and more.

    4. Rehabilitation and strengthening exercise.

    5. Load monitoring and graduated return to sport.
